Little Men get Sweet Action

We all have been wondering why the retail space along Little Raven between 15th and 16th can’t seem to stay open. Well, we have figured it out. They haven’t sold Ice Cream! The space adjacent to Ink has been remodeling for the past couple months in order to expand the coffee shop’s current operations. They have also decided to start selling ice cream… and not just any ice cream. Have you heard of Little Man Ice Cream? How about Sweet Action? Ink’s Ice Cream selection will carry flavors from both of these giants in the Denver Ice Cream World. As of today, Ink will be ready to start scooping out the deliciousness in 2 weeks time.

Everyday becomes more difficult to find a need to leave the neighborhood I live in.

Building a new Capital Hill

There has been quite a lot of activity up on Capital Hill lately. I’m not just talking about what’s going on in the Halls of Congress; there is significant building going on around the Governor’s House. Two projects in particular:

The Logan at 6th and Logan St.

The Logan is a 57 unit apartment building with 51 underground parking spaces anticipating completion this fall.

8th and Emerson Apartments

The 8th & Emerson Apartments will be a 42-unit apartment building. Rental rates will range from $900 to $1,900/month, with unit sizes ranging from 500 – 800 square feet. The project will be completed by late spring / early summer of next year.

The rental market, as I’m sure a lot of you know, is very hot right now. With the Governor back in the mansion and everyone looking for a place to live, I think these projects will easily be filled. I want to thanks the good people over at Denver Infill.

Denver’s FasTracks

I have been getting a lot of questions regarding the Light Rail system in Denver, specifically when they can ride out to the airport from Union Station. 5280 magazine did an interview this month with Pauletta Tonilas the spokeswoman for RTD’s FasTracks program, and she explained the timelines for the 6 different rail lines that are planned for Denver.

As a Resident in the Riverfront Community, I cannot help to look forward to the short walk to the Commuter Rail and hassle-free trip to DIA. Getting to the island will be so much easier.

Downtown Denver Partnership’s Plans

At the recent annual meeting of the Downtown Denver Partnership, many new ideas and plans were unveiled for 2012. Some of the proposals were very exciting and included; adding new lighting to 16th street mall, increasing police patrols in the Central Business District and opening a 24-hour homeless shelter, creating more events at the city parks, and hiring a “retail recruiter” to help tailor a more local retail market in Downtown.

The meeting was very exciting and was obvious that everyone involved wants Denver to become a World-Class city.
